Do you use Zendesk and wonder which AI to integrate with it? 🤔 The short answer: Zendesk’s native AI (AI Agents and Copilot) obviously works, but many third-party solutions also integrate with it through the Zendesk Marketplace.
Among them are Klark, eesel AI, Yuma, Siena, Ada, and DigitalGenius. They don’t all do the same thing. Some respond to customers on their own, others assist your agents, and a few do both. And their pricing models are completely different.
In this comparison, we review the top 7 AI tools compatible with Zendesk in 2026: how they work, list prices, strengths, and limitations.
Let's go! 🚀
Zendesk is one of the most widely used helpdesks in the world. It centralizes email, messaging, social media, and phone support, and can be enhanced with third-party apps through its Marketplace.
Unlike Gorgias, Zendesk charges per agent. In 2026, the Suite lineup shown on the website consists of three tiers.
Public pricing information retrieved from zendesk.com in October 2026; please verify with the publisher. The Suite Growth plan has not appeared in the public pricing table since the summer of 2026.
The additional cost of AI:
Zendesk AI is priced in two separate tiers.
A point to watch in 2026:
As of May 18, 2026, Zendesk has updated this model. Resolutions are categorized into tiers (“assisted escalation,” “contained resolution,” “verified resolution”) and are paid for using a credit called the resolution allowance. Accounts are transitioning gradually, with 30 days’ advance notice. Pricing per level is not publicly available: please contact your Zendesk sales representative for details.
In plain English?
For a team of 10 agents using Suite Professional, expect to pay about $1,150/month for licenses, plus $500/month if you add Copilot. The 100 included resolutions are used up quickly: 2,000 AI resolutions per month represent an additional $2,850 on top of the base rate (estimated calculation based on list prices).
Before comparing the tools, it is important to distinguish between two approaches. This is the first criterion for making a choice.
The AI responds directly to the customer, without human intervention. It transfers the call to an agent when it doesn't know how to handle the request.
Ideal for:
High-volume, repetitive inquiries: order tracking, product FAQs, password requests, and business hours.
The AI drafts a response in the Zendesk ticket. The agent reviews it, makes adjustments, and then sends it. The human remains in control.
Ideal for:
Sensitive requests, premium brands, and orders that require sound judgment or a goodwill gesture.
At Zendesk, these two product families are sold separately. Some third-party solutions combine them.
Zendesk does a great job of organizing support. But agents still have to search for information and write out each response. Here are a few guidelines published by the developers:
The real question is no longer “Do we need AI?”, but “Which kind?”.
Here are the main compatible solutions, ranging from native options to specialized tools. All of them can be installed without leaving Zendesk.
What it is:
AI built directly into Zendesk. AI agents respond to customers via messaging, email, and voice. Copilot assists agents with tickets by providing response suggestions, summaries, tone adjustments, triage, and “auto-assist” based on procedures written by your admins.
AI agents rely on technologies from Ultimate (acquired in 2024) and Forethought (acquired in 2026).

What about Forethought?
Forethought was historically integrated with Zendesk as a third-party solution. Since its acquisition by Zendesk (which was finalized in late March 2026), its technology has been integrated into Zendesk’s native AI agents. As a result, it is no longer truly an independent alternative.

There's no one-size-fits-all answer. But asking a few questions can help you decide quickly.
If your brand prioritizes strong customer relationships, start with a co-pilot. You can then expand automation to areas you’ve mastered.
In Zendesk, add up the licenses, Copilot, and resolutions. For a third-party solution, check the flat fee, the unit price, and the definition of a billable ticket.
Some solutions require procedures, rules, and a flawless knowledge base. Others learn from your past support tickets. Always ask, “How long until we see the first results?”
Test it on your actual tickets. Compare the tone, accuracy, and handling of edge cases. An AI that automates a lot but makes frequent mistakes ends up costing you dearly in terms of customer satisfaction (see our fact sheet on CSAT).
Email, chat, social media, WhatsApp, phone: list your priority channels. If voice is essential, Zendesk’s native AI or Ada are better suited. For text-based communication, there are more options.
If you sell in France or Europe, test the quality in French and your other languages. Not all solutions are created equal in this regard. Our guide to multilingual customer service details best practices.
Native AI ties you to Zendesk. Third-party AI will follow you if you ever switch tools. Keep this in mind as part of your long-term planning.
Identify the 10 most common reasons for customer contact. In e-commerce, order tracking almost always tops the list. This is your primary area for automation.
An AI cannot come up with your return policy. Update your content before launching.
Run the AI in draft or co-pilot mode for a few weeks. Your agents will review and correct the output, and you'll be able to measure its actual quality.
Start automating tasks in areas where quality has been proven. Then expand, one scenario at a time. Always maintain a clear escalation path to a human.
Track the automation rate, CSAT, first-contact resolution rate, average handling time, and cost per ticket. Compare before and after.
"The AI is going to give my clients all kinds of nonsense answers."
Not if you start off on the right foot. Co-pilot mode lets you review each answer before submitting it. And reputable services will forward the inquiry to a human as soon as they have any doubts.
"With Zendesk, native AI is definitely the best option."
It's true that it's the easiest to set up. But you have to pay for it on top of your licenses, and it isn't always the best fit for your business. Compare it against your own support tickets before making a decision.
"Integrating a third-party tool takes months of work."
Not necessarily. Most of the solutions in this comparison can be installed from the Marketplace or with a simple connection.

Are Forethought and Ultimate still around?
Both were acquired by Zendesk (Ultimate in 2024, Forethought in 2026). Their technologies now power native AI agents.
